Demonstrate knowledge of theories and practices of design and technical production.
For example:
- demonstrating knowledge of the fundamental elements of technical design and production of dance performances (e.g., stage areas, rehearsal processes, costumes, scenery, lighting and sound equipment)
- recognizing and interpreting ways in which various components of a dance performance and production (e.g., props, costumes, multimedia, accompaniment, lighting, context) contribute to artistic expression and communicate meaning
- understanding how audiences, venues, and other factors influence creative choices and elements of choreography, performance, and production
- demonstrating familiarity with the use of various technologies in the documentation, performance, and production of dance

Demonstrate knowledge of basic principles and protocols of description, analysis, interpretation, and evaluation of dance.
For example:
- demonstrating knowledge of technical and aesthetic vocabulary and concepts used to describe, analyze, interpret, and evaluate choreography and performance technique in a variety of dance genres and styles
- recognizing and interpreting ways in which dance movement and choreographic choices can create and communicate meaning (e.g., movement qualities, intentions of choreographic design, expression of emotions and ideas, artistic expression)
- applying and responding to feedback, self-reflection, and the analysis of artistic intent in evaluating and revising dance technique, performance, and choreography
- recognizing and analyzing ways in which personal and environmental contexts influence the interpretation and evaluation of dance movement and choreography
